Tax Reporting

Tax information reporting in the United States is a requirement for organizations to report wage and non-wage payments made in the course of their trade or business to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Form 1098-T reports tuition and other educational expenses and Form 1098-E reports interest on student loans.

Form 1098 T

Around mid-January of every year, Form 1098-T Tuition Statements are mailed to the students mailing address located in the student account or an electronic copy of the form can also be downloaded from your MyNSC student center.

The information relates to the Hope and the Lifetime Learning tax credits. You can obtain IRS Publication 970, Tax Benefits for Education, and IRS Form 8863, Education Credits, from an IRS Office near you, or download the information at http://www.irs.gov.

While Nevada State College staff will not be able to answer specific tax questions, the Cashier's Office will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the transactions between you and Nevada State College. Due to the complex nature of these tax regulations, you should contact your tax consultant with specific tax questions.
