Scorpion Academic Scholarship Program

You must apply for admission to Nevada State College by January 15, 2018 and send your final seventh semester transcripts to the Office of Admissions & Recruitment by February 1, 2018 to be eligible. Scholarships will be awarded based on your unweighted GPA from transcripts received by February 1, 2018. Black & Gold level awards are based on available funding and are not guaranteed.

At the time of admission, new students who have met the scholarship deadline will be evaluated for eligibility to be named as a Scorpion Academic Scholarship recipient. Eligible students must graduate from high school with a minimum 3.25 unweighted GPA, or from a community college within the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) with a 3.25 GPA and an AA, AS, AB, or AAS in Nursing. Students must enroll as a full-time (12 or more financial aid-eligible credits†), degree-seeking student at NSC the semester immediately following graduation. Freshman recipients may qualify to receive an award during the first eight fall or spring semesters of their enrollment, and transfer students during the first four. Students will be placed in one of three award levels based on their entering GPA as follows.

2018/19 Award Level GPA Criteria Maximum Award
Presidential 3.75 and above $2,000 semester*
Mount Scorpion 3.50 - 3.74 $1,250 semester*
Black & Gold 3.25 - 3.49 $500 semester* (based on available funding)

 * Award levels may be met with a combination of scholarships and grants.

Students must be enrolled full-time (12 or more financial aid-eligible credits†) at NSC to receive the award during a semester**.  Students placed on Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) suspension are ineligible to receive an award until they  regain good SAP standing. NSC will confirm enrollment after the end of each semester's add/drop period, and reverse any disbursements for which a student is no longer eligible based on decreased enrollment. In the event recipients do not meet the enrollment requirement for any award in a semester, they may regain eligibility in the next fall or spring semester, until the award expires.

** Students in their final semester of enrollment who are not required to attend full-time to satisfy graduation requirements may have their award prorated according to their enrollment level. 75% for ¾ time, 50% for ½ time and 25% for less-than-half-time. Students should contact the financial aid office after applying for graduation.

Students should notify NSC of their eligibility at the time of application to the College.
