NSC well-represented at 3rd Annual NSHE Diversity Summit

The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) hosted its 3rd Annual Diversity Summit in Southern Nevada on Friday, October 3, 2014. The event was held at the Cheyenne Campus of the College of Southern Nevada, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hundreds of staff and faculty members from Southern Nevada institutions attended the event, including a large contingency from NSC.

NSC hires new director for Writing Center

Dr. Kathryn Tucker is the newly-hired Writing Center Director and Assistant Professor of English Rhetoric and Composition here at NSC. Dr. Tucker and her staff of six Peer Writing Specialists are building up the Writing Center this semester, and have big plans for the future.

Nevada State College School of Nursing receives approval from state board of nursing to expand program

On Wednesday, Sept. 17, representatives from the NSC School of Nursing went before the Nevada State Board of Nursing to gain approval for the expansion of their program. The School of Nursing leadership team presented their plan, which includes adding more students and updating the curriculum.

Nevada State College Graduates Largest Class Ever at 2014 Commencement Ceremony

Nevada State College (NSC) was proud to graduate its largest class ever at the Spring 2014 Commencement Ceremony on May 10, 2014 at the Henderson Pavilion. More than 200 students participated in the ceremony, along with administrators, faculty, staff, members of the Nevada Board of Regents and the NSC Foundation Board of Trustees, other elected officials, friends, family members and the community.

NSSA Installs new President, Senators and Executive Board at Installation Ceremony

It's been a busy year for NSSA, announced Student Activities Advisor Jerica Turek at the Nevada State Student Association (NSSA) End-of-Year banquet and Installation Ceremony. This year has been incredibly successful, with improvements in every area, she said. The organization boasts an increased number of NSSA events, a 10% higher attendance rate from last year to this year, a record number of 25 registered clubs and organizations, and improvement in the programs and services offered to students, among other accomplishments.

Nevada State College School of Nursing hires new Dean, celebrates 100 percent pass rate on NCLEX exam

May was a good month for the Nevada State College (NSC) School of Nursing. With the annual pinning ceremony on May 9th, during National Nurses Week (May 6-12), a 100 percent pass rate of Nevada State students on the nursing licensure exam, and the hire of new Dean & Associate Professor Dr. Neal Rosenburg, the School of Nursing has a lot to celebrate.

Nevada State College awarded Library Services and Technology Act Grant

History students at Nevada State College (NSC) will be working to preserve Henderson's past by collecting oral histories of area residents with the support of a recent $97,000 Library Services and Technology Act Grant (LSTA). Working closely with academic faculty and library staff, students will develop job skills in oral history collection and digital archiving while participating in an undergraduate research project focused on the southern Nevada city, titled "Bridging the Past, Henderson Memories."
